So is really going to mess up the proprietary software world.

It’s just the start and already big things are being made mostly useless.

There was one booking software my business used which charged $15/month/ user.

It had a specific feature we needed, but it’s still pricey for a calendar. We just vibe coded our own and it’s been working perfectly.

It’s also saved us more money that the cost of our ai subscription.

So from my viewpoint we are basically getting ai for free due to this ongoing savings.

Yup. I’m worried what the response is going to be because companies are definitely not going to stand still while people copy or decompile their software. Recently there’s been vibecoded versions of Adobe’s suite and while they’re buggy as hell and have UX issues, they kind of work. And that’s very scary.

I was too, but I’m not sure that we will see much of a response as AI is the new arms race.

There are already powerful open source models and other countries may not care.

        I’m definitely in the picture.

They’ve given a good amount of money to Anthropic, Claude is the top contributor and Anthropic bad for a whole list of reasons that everyone is familiar with by now (datacenters, hardware shortage, knowledge theft)

But, the project is also kicking Sony right in the money sacks.

Those mfers put a rootkit on my computer and pushed for global anti-circumvention laws responsible for thousands of people being put in prison for the crime of freeing people from the shackles of DRM(, etc, etc, etc).

I’m sure Sony will lose more money over this than the few thousand dollars paid to Anthropic so I’ll at least spread the word for the project even if I don’t use it.

(I almost certainly don’t have the hardware to run GTA6 so it will be a moot point in the end)

I could probably run it so i might end up trying it if they actually manage to get it playable on pc. I also have a ps5 so i could just buy the game there if i wanted it, but i’m not willing to pay 100 bucks (cause that’s what it costs for the full experience let’s be honest here) for a digital drm game. If they had a disc release i would have probably bought it.

I have seen some cool looking slop projects recently. Yesterday I saw a “run macOS apps on iPad” project and a while back I saw a imessage bridge for windows and linux that just connects to iPhone. Not that I want to use them or trust them. I am amazed that any company would want to use this to write software. Really muddies the “trade secrets” issue with their products.

Honestly getting something like this, but as an actual source code conversion would be a great idea for Apple to do to get more games on their platform. They have a terrible “Hey devs please port more games to macOS, we will sell them for you” approach without the here we will help you do it.
