I want minimum latency as I play competitive games and am very sensitive to it. Hyprland has hdr support which is a must for me and on paper should support vrr and tearing aswell. With VRR I had occasional issues but something like tearing was impossible to get working for some reason, kde plasma should do both well but I have gotten used to tiling window managers and don’t really want to give that up.

So id like to know about your setup if you have gotten something like tearing to work or other recommendations.

EDIT: I went back to KDE Plasma and was able to confirm that direct scanout and tearing work, i used window rues to force it for specific games, i also use https://codeberg.org/anametologin/Krohnkite which allows tiling on plasma. Its not as beautiful as hyprland but meets me demands

Aside from DEs like KDE i think the only other tiling compositor that has HDR support is sway (they added it in their latest release). Unfortunately i’m not really versed with latency stuff cause i’m not competitive, but it might be worth a look to see if it can work for you.

Edit: it seems like mango does have a version with HDR support after reading the replies, i did not know that.
