My machine has a single NVMe slot, so I swapped my 500GB drive with a 2TB last night and did a fresh Bazzite install. I put the 500 into a USB enclosure and hooked it up expecting to be able to copy my games off of it. Steam sees the old drive but lists all its contents as “Non-Steam”.

I have tried ‘repairing’ the library but that does nothing. I tried manually mounting the drive to another path but with the same result.

What’s the best way to get the games off this drive?

Edit: just to clarify, the 500GB drive is a Bazzite install. It was the primary drive until recently.

    I’d mount it as a second storage location in Steam, then, within Steam, use the storage option to move the files over to the main library. That will ensure that they all get moved properly and reduce any potential issues.

    Copy the game folders into ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/ and then find each game in your library and install it. It will find the files and skip most/all of the download.

      That folder only contains the folder “Steam Controller Configs” on both drives.

      Edit: found them at ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common on the old drive

        Final edit: this worked, once I used the correct directory. Note that Steam gives no indication that it found the files except to skip right to “Verifying”.

        Strange, on my Bazzite install, that’s the folder that Steam uses. Either way, glad it helped at least.

    Did you set the drives game path as a valid install folder in steam, and then move the files into the steamlibrary folder that got created?

        Basically follow the first 3 steps, then move your games manually into the newly created Steam\steamapps\common folder. The next time you try to install one of the games, Steam will find the already installed game.

        1. Navigate to your Steam client ‘Settings’ menu.
        2. Select the ‘Storage’ tab.
        3. From here, you can view your default installation drive, as well as creating a new path by selecting the ‘+’ button at the top.
