EverQuest Legends is “for people who don’t have time to play EverQuest”

EverQuest Legends™ (EQL) is a newly reimagined version of classic EverQuest from its original release in 1999. Featuring all the fun magic and nostalgia of the original game, EQL is also packed with tons of new features and quality of life enhancements.
So it’s basically a Remake of EverQuest. Not sure how this is comparable to WoW Classic or even Old School RuneScape classic, which are not Remakes, but an earlier state of the game.
EQL has been designed from the ground up to appeal to players who enjoy playing their games solo and/or casually. While groups (up to 4 players) and raids (up to 8 players) are available, the entire game can be played, enjoyed, and experienced solo if that’s your playstyle.
That’s good. My only problem with these kind of games is, you have to pay a monthly subscription.
Its not a remake, its an alternative solo friendly multiclassing private server that got sued turned into a real product by different community members making a studio and partnering with devs. I dont know why anyone would compare it with classic etc either.
I did something similar by hosting my own everquest server and tweaking the server rules. While it didn’t allow multiclassing, it did bump XP and Gold gain significantly. It also had out of combat near instant healing and mana gain to full. And in combat increased those as well.
It made it so I could an level approperiate solo a dungeon (with a merc), level up as I got deeper and be able to complete the whole thing, and if I was dumb or unlucky wandering nonsters could still kill me.
You coulf also give your character the best gear available which I’d replace every 20-50 levels or so.
Yeah I find most MMOs are too much of a grind now. Gloria Victis is fun as the grind to level 100 can be done pretty quick, you are most of the way there and able to join in pvp within a few hours from just doing the tutorial.
Shame it shut down but looks like it’s coming back now, currently a closed test for previous owners.
Guild Wars 2 is also fairly fast to level, and you can join PvP immediately as everyone is set to max level for that.
This. I switched to GW2 from FFXIV and WoW and the difference is great. Just the fact that you have like 15 years of content that’s actually still relevant, no subscription and I can just drop it for another 5 years and get back without missing anything I can slowly experience and catch up on is great. Also, they actually do interesting stuff with i.e movement and exploration that I haven’t seen anywhere else.
Returned to WoW to play a new expansion with friends, and it sucks. I missed two weeks of launch and I’m so behind on gear there’s a chance I won’t be able to keep up with my guild’s progression unless I farm almost nonstop, which after chilling in GW I don’t really want to do, so I’ll probably just drop it.
And if you want something more classic, there’s GW1 Reforged now.
Huh? WoW gearing is easy as hell this season. Yeah it’s not 2 hours until max level but there’s more easy ways than ever to get good gear. Hell, you can get a piece of the second highest level armor every week doing solo content
Some friends convinced me to try GW2 and I had the opposite experience. Everyone had all their fancy mounts and stuff from past expansions and I couldn’t do shit unless I went back and did the relevant campaigns…each of which is several hours. I got close to max level and quit. The combat is also painfully boring IMO
Depending on what you think of the combat (however it is getting reworked eventually… apparently), ESO is another really good horizontal progression MMO which I’ve poured thousands of hours into over the years
EDIT: Although haven’t played for a bit over a year now, can blame WoW for that
Isn’t that what the PS2 version of EverQuest (EQ Adventure) was supposed to be, too? 🤔
