You sound even more like the dev in question. To quote an excerpt from his post:

There are massive issues with AI tech, but those are caused by our current capitalist culture, not the tools themselves. In many ways, it couldn’t have been implemented in a worse way but it was AI that bought all the RAM, it was OpenAI. It was not AI that stole copyrighted content, it was Facebook. It wasn’t AI that laid off thousands of employees, it’s deluded executives who don’t understand that this tool is an augmentation, not a replacement for humans.

Well, you are making up head cannon. Check my profile, there’s a Pixelfed link. I’m an artist not an engineer.

I’m just telling you what you sound like. I checked your profile, gotta love the number of submissions that have characters that have one too many fingers. You are about as much as an artist as me walking down the street and paying an actual street artist to tell him what he should draw, except you aren’t even paying a struggling street artist…? (well, you know if you are or aren’t, anyway)

Look, as annoying as this guy is, I am pretty sure he drew these himself. I think I am usually pretty good at spotting AI and his profile doesn’t raise any flags for me. Of course I could be wrong, but just by the fact that these are often photographed pieces of paper makes me think it’s real.

Maybe you are right, it really was only one submission I found suspect, and it could be due to style, but AI is also increasingly difficult to discern. The paper says nothing, that’s just a border style:

Regardless, I’m still just describing what he sounds like, and sounding like that is what made me suspicious enough to try to check his other claims. Not sure why someone who is an artist would try to defend hiding AI usage, given they are being much more targeted and affected by generative AI.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter, he knows if he drew it or not and my deeply nested comment will be lost to time, but I would be sus of not just him, but any “artist” that sounds like they are excessively defending generative AI use. Edited my original comment somewhat tho.
