8BitDo Pro 2 is the best pad I’ve ever used.

Support doesn’t have to be based on a specific distro. It isn’t for any of the other ports that support us.

The way I see it, native support means our platform is actually being supported.
Though it seems I may have celebrated too soon here…
Now that there is a Steam Deck Native build, is Baldur’s Gate 3 supported on Linux?
Larian does not provide support for the Linux platform. The Steam Deck Native build is only supported on Steam Deck.

This is huge. I was beginning to lose hope we’d ever see a big budget high-profile non-indie get a Linux port ever again.
Edit: Maybe not that huge…

Petal Crash.
Versus puzzles are my favorite genre, but they’re all dead and buried today. Panel de Pon isn’t coming back unless Intelligent Systems figures out how to put a dating sim in it. Dr. Mario and Puzzle Fighter both got turned into mobile gacha games, and then shut down. Puyo Puyo looked like it was set to make a comeback, but then Sega sold its soul to sell more Tetris.
Petal Crash is more or less the one good thing that has come out of the last decade or so. Sadly being such a small indie meant it never got much of a playerbase, some activity around launch but I haven’t been able to play it against a human opponent in a very long time.

For fighting games and other arcade genres, I’ve got my own custom built stick using a GP2040-CE board. Great DIY project if you’re into this sort of niche.
For everything else, 8BitDo Pro 2 is my ol’ faithful.

All that matters is that you pick something popular enough that you can easily Google any issues that might arise.

Wii U Pro Controller

I don’t think they’re actually expecting anyone to upgrade annually. But there’s always someone due for an upgrade, however long it’s been for them. You can compare what percentage of users upgraded this year to previous years.

One more reason why I don’t see Proton as a replacement for official native support. Things can and will break, and they’ll say it’s not their problem because they only support Windows.

Quite frankly, Nazi-adjacent is bad enough, especially when he’s made no effort to own up to the problems he’s caused. It seems like he very deliberately tries to skirt the line of plausible deniability.

I feel like a lot of times when devs say that, they never end up doing it in the end. Anything short of an explicit yes ends up being a no.

Even if/when Switch 2 emulation is possible, there’s not a chance in hell it could run on Deck hardware.

Both systems have pros and cons. This article isn’t bashing on the Steam Deck at all, just making the case for what the Switch 2 has going for it.
They say up front that this article is a response to the frankly obnoxious amount of “my gaming platform can beat up your gaming platform” circlejerking that has been going around - which you’re kinda perpetuating.
The Deck does not “obliterate” the Switch 2, and a headline like that makes you part of the problem.

They’ve never promised that, because that would be an absurd promise to make. This is no different from Valve dropping support for older versions of Windows, which they have also done.

Fighting games
Arcade/versus puzzle games (but the genre as a whole is dead on every platform, not just Linux)
JRPGs
Rhythm games

I’ve sadly found myself lamenting the fact that a lot of my favorite genres are tragically underrepresented on Linux. I still gotta keep my Switch, and buy a Switch 2, for some of those games.

There are so many multiplayer games competiting for players’ attention today. The biggest risk associated with a multiplayer game is the lack of a playerbase. F2P is the obvious way to mitigate that risk. Of course it’s not impossible for premium titles to succeed, but it will be very difficult to overcome players who might look at it and think “I’m not sure if anyone else is going to spend $30 on this, and if they don’t then I won’t either.”
By the looks of this game, I’m skeptical that it has enough of a hook to succeed. The market for sports games is dominated by licensed titles, can they really hope to compete with FIFA?
I’m hoping ARM support could pave the way for a Steam Deck Mini next. I bought a Miyoo Mini Plus two years ago and put far more time into it than I ever did my Deck, which honestly just kinda gathers dust now.
I don’t need specs, I just need something that fits in my pocket and runs my favorite 2D indie games.
