Iirc you do not need one to play it, only to use cloud saves. It has been a year or two since I did my play through so take that with a grain of salt though.

Mine launched fine.

Fingers crossed. EU seems like the last sane place on the planet sometimes.

Yeah, I understand Linux gaming was not great until fairly recently. Heroic and Lutris have been around for a few years now as I understand it, though I admit I’m still new to the scene. Honestly though, in my experience, Steam still doesn’t just work in some cases, and I’ve admitted to myself that’s just going to be the Linux gaming experience. I check Proton DB before buying any game now.

I have family in the States I refuse to visit. Not like, distant cousins, I mean siblings.

If you care this much about not using Steam, why would this be the deciding factor? I can play GoG games right now on Linux.

AMD and Intel GPUs are both good. Intel has come a long way in the low end it midrange market. AMD is only real option for high end comparison to Nvidia’s.

What does that have anything to do with my comment?

A good thing done for a bad/selfish reason, is still a good thing done.

No, I’d like to do that myself. Mostly need the time and sufficient motivation. Most of my time is eaten up GMing multiple ttrpgs a week right now.

I think that’s probably most artists’ dream!

Evil is a really strong word that I’m not sure I can get behind here.

I said from the get go that I was asking from a place of curiosity not judgement. I wasn’t “getting at” anything. It interests me to know what your stance is and how it might be informed. Congrats on being published, that’s pretty cool.

I mostly write but have wanted to make a game for a while.

Do you mind sharing what it was/is?

I will extend the same question to you.

I don’t understand intellectual property
I’m asking from a place of curiosity, not a place of judgement. Have you ever created anything? A piece of art, poem or prose, a film, a program, etc?

Would the tax not be a percentage of income?
I switched to Linux in 2025 and have mostly been cool learning a lot of stuff during the Switch, but I still don’t really get Bottles and man I’ve tried. It feels like it’s a really useful thing to learn, but I’m just lost. Lutris made EA games an easy install, though.
Anyway, I think primarily this stems from people installing EA games they own on Steam, in which case Steam will install the EA app first.
