My problem at the moment is: where does all that come from? It downloads some stuff from somewhere and I have zero control?
I know this is a little bit silly, but I’m old and I was used to have at least a little bit of influence onn my repos and package managers. Now it looks like there is so much going on in the background that I feel uncomfortable again (actually why I switched from Windows).
I tried wireless and the connected docking station with same results. The download speed is abysmal, it sits idle for minutes before showing something like 50-100KiB/s.
There’s another PC with Bazzite in the same network that works fine, but as I remember the update scripts are different between deck and desktop images. (Desktop runs silent in the background, Deck is manual).
This will run the whole night…new install would have been 15 min.

Ich werde nach gut 20 Jahren in nächster Zukunft nicht mehr Grün wählen, auch wenn es mich schmerzt. Aber nach der extrem undurchsichtigen und vermutlich illegalen Palantir-Aktion in BaWü bin ich durch mit ihnen. Kretschmann hat mich schon immer mit seinem “Realo”-Gehabe gestört, denn so kaschiert man nur die Unfähigkeit zu politischer Änderung.
And this is…safe? I know we do things now different on immutable distros, but I’m used to the old repo-thing where I had at least a little bit of control over the supply chain. Now it’s just “hey we download something from somewhere, it’s cool ,trust us”?
