For now. Would you risk a long-standing relationship with your most important customers for a temporary boost in income?

They do this because everyone else allows them to. I think computer and device manufacturers have more leverage than RAM manufacturers if they join together. Yet they don’t, because today’s management class is vastly incompetent.

There’s no guarantee that AI companies will need this amount of product indefinitely, while PC manufactures will always need RAM. Alienating them would be commercially foolish.

PC manufacturers should grow some balls and tell RAM suppliers to lower the price or lose their business forever.

I’ve hated nVidia since they killed 3dfx, never bought anything from them, apart from a couple of video chips in old laptops.
Yet, despite their best efforts into making themselves hated more and more every year, people still buy their shit at extortionate prices.

Especially since the data centers gobbling up RAM are mostly in the US

I do that, but still keep a proton mailbox for stuff like bittorrent trackers, a whois on my domains doesn’t give out my name, but well…
Still, I recently moved (mostly) off of gmail, and I “only” had to update the aliases to the new address… all 80-something of them

They could implement a compatibility layer themselves, Apple managed to keep compatibility moving from PPC to x86 and then to ARM

People can still decide to not buy anything at all

Even then, it often crashed or glitched. I mean it was amazing for me at the time anyway, running Windows games on Linux. But nowadays it’s on a different level.

I’m going to check if I moved all my installed Steam games to the spinning disk will Steam on Linux be able to read it.
I advise against trying to use the same library for windows and linux, but if you just want to migrate, it should be possible to use Steam’s backup feature.

On AMD no, on nVidia if you want to game you need their proprietary drivers AFAIK, but I’ve always been on AMD so…
They look pretentious as fuck tbh

Well, if they release it they’ll stop getting money shortly after, so why would they?

DODI works better on Linux tho
It’s like non-radioactive steel that has to be recovered from sunken warships
