I prefer Unciv, open source, actively developed, active mod scene, free online multiplayer, linux+android support and cross platform saves with Syncthing autosync.

Yes, there are many modpacks that are available and some are even getting updated.

The Dune one is great, I keeping coming back to it over the years. There is always a fantasy total conversion mod, but I never got into it.
