GOG is exploring the possibility of bringing back boxed PC games by letting customers order physical editions directly from their digital libraries. However, the idea remains in its early stages, with logistical challenges and publisher approvals still standing in the way. In the meantime, the company is taking smaller steps to revive the appeal of classic big-box editions.
That sounds lovely. It’s middle ground that I think is more actionable than printing CDs and boxes by GOG. Of course, if GOG also have some way to allow the game maker selling their own physical version like how bandcamp do for artists that would be swell too.
Especially for the good old games they wouldn’t need too big of a USB drive to have the game and digital manual and maybe digital art book and game OST on them.
