EA really is such a parasitic company and one of the most emblematic of capitalism I’ve ever seen. Everything from it’s constant need for acquisition to it’s septic figureheads who look like literal Mafia bosses with slicked back hair, a company that just seems procedurally generated from the capitalist algo
RIP. Maxis, Westwood, and now this.
“competition fosters diversity”
the diversity:

You see, EA wants to beat google’s record for number of softwares/projects killed
Please don’t kill SWTOR 😫🙏
TOR killed single-player kotors and pulled Karpyshyn off of mass effect 3 which was a disaster for that series too so you won’t catch me crying
So many good memories as i scan across this graphic. I wish i could play syndicate. : (
On one hand I’m sad that a good team with some good games under them is closing down. On the other hand I’m glad that the BioWare team isn’t going to be making games for the Saudis so hopefully someone decent picks up the team and the IPs in future.
I don’t think that’s sort of wishful thinking applies here.
IPs
i’m going to assume they do the classic EA thing of yesteryear and just keep the IP so no one can use it
the saudis and kushner need to make their money back so an IP firesale is in the cards
Another one bytes the dust.
Well, at this point BioWare was just a brand and who knows, maybe they saved us from the next bad Mass Effect.
More thankful than ever these days for Owlcat, who has largely been BioWare as I remember them for a decade now.
Rogue Trader is pretty damn good, uneven difficulty aside. Their Pathfinder games were a bit too much of a combat grind for my liking. Excited to see what they do next.
Writing in Wrath is very good, but I really didn’t care for the Might & Magic side-campaign thing at all. Kingmaker’s kingdom building sim side-campaign is by far my favorite side thing they’ve done, but the rest of that game is a little up and down.
Agree that Rogue Trader is their best so far.
