I have setup two standalone emulators, Yuzu and Ryujinx. They work well and have tested a bunch of games for short time. And I played both Zelda games for hundreds of hours on Yuzu (because it was a bit slow on Ryujinx). Even with mods. Setting first time up can be complicated. Some games even require newer firmware. You need firmware files and keys (the keys need to match the firmware). On Linux.

Which main menu do you mean? The emultors own menu?

I imagine the work will make its way over to Eden at some point which is a more actively-developed yuzu fork

I have Eden on my sight for a while now, but just didn’t switch over yet. Still using the last (ok 3 days before last) Yuzu binaries. I only waited this long to see which of the forks will mature and stick. Looks like the development is going well, and they are immune to takedowns on Github, as they have their own Git instance. Looks like they do the job carefully so I feel confident enough to install Eden soon.

Hope they will adapt and develop the RetroArch core (I’m a huge RetroArch fan).

Nah, the in game menu. It’s been several months so it’s hazy, but I think Mario Kart was the only game I got to successfully launch, but it wouldn’t let me proceed past the menu. I was assuming it was some sort of phone home authentication problem but I’m not sure.

I had a similar issue running Mario Kart on steam deck if I’m remembering correctly - though I think it was related to controllers, may have been a popup or something appearing behind full screen. Have definitely had BotW and Mario Kart running under Linux!

Hmm, I don’t know what you mean by “phone home authentication”. I did not any such authentication and my phone was not involved.

Phones aren’t involved in phone-home authentication, silly. And it’s not always visible or something you actively do. Sometimes it’s a CD key you put in. Sometimes it’s a check through the internet that’s invisible to you.
