Overwatch is a generally well running game both on win and linux but it suffers from bad shader compilation.
I was wondering if there are any fixes for this specific issue, overwatch has an experimental dx12 mode which is supposed to run better once shaders are compiled for the first time but in my experience theres massive added latency in dx12, im not sure what causes it or if there is a work around for that. Right now i use a custom game (Code: 929PJ) and follow the instructions of the creator which are to delete shader cache and let the custom game run afterwards.
If i dont do this the game stutters heavily every boot and having to run this custom game for every map everytime i want to play with a smooth experience is extremely annoying.
Are there any fixes you know or is this up to the devs?

From my own experience DX12 shaders will never compile in that custom mode you’ve mentioned.

If you want to use DX12, you’ll have to go to practice range and equip every single hero until it loads correctly.

As of today, DX11 is a more enjoyable experience in Overwatch on Linux

I tend to find dx11 over dx12 to be a more enjoyable Linux experience in general. My theory is that compatibility is still being worked on or something.

DX11 is just more stable even on Windows.

M$ kinda screwed up with DX12 I still remember Battlefield 1 being unplayable on DX12 mode even on the new PC I built just to play that game on the highest settings.
