I’m tired, boss.
This is fucking annoying. I’m tired of being treated like a second class citizen for choosing to not install spywareOS on my computer.
Fuck these companies. I’m refunding my wardogs purchase.
The previous beta was fine. First For Honor and now Wardogs. Fucking shameful.
At least they’re working on it as opposed to releasing a mess, or not supporting Linux at all.
What
exactlyare they working on?Did you read the Discord message in the original post? There isn’t much fat to trim off their statement. Let me know if you can’t see the image and I will write it out for ya.
I’ve seen “we’re working on proton emulation” turn up empty before. Without knowing what they are actully working on I do not see any meat on the bone.
That’s fair. I don’t know what all that entails, nor how easy/hard that is. It could be a nothing burger statement to shut people up. Like, hopefully not, but you’re right about there not being much to go off.
Honestly I don’t have much stake in this situation. This is the first I’ve heard of the game, and it doesn’t look like my jam. I just thought maybe you couldn’t see the photo. Some people have issues with that every now and then depending on how they’re viewing the post. I’ve been pretty lucky so far with the Boost app though. I do like seeing more games compatible with Linux too.
I hope Liam plasters this on front page of GoL. Shame these motherfuckers.
Better efforts and communication than a lot of other developers
A Discord message does not equate to good communication. Good developers use blogs posts on websites, not random messages locked behind a login.
It annoys the crap out of me when people say "YOu can give feedback on Discord.
No, no I cannot. I dumped them when they decided to do an IPO, and from what I’ve seen since it was a great decision.
Yup. If Discord is your main point of contact, then you already failed community management.
Let’s be honest, for most people discord is fine. There’s a good chance of all the options they have, discord is one of the ones that reaches the most people. No option will fit every player.
Everyone can access a website. So of all the options they have, a simple blog is the best. Stop defending shitty practices.
You know, it’s possible to analyse and discuss a situation and the factors contributing to it without ‘defending shitty practices’. I don’t have a bone in this fight.
That sounds like "It’s okay to post official statements from agencies and organizations only on Shitter because everyone has Elon’s Nazi slopfest.
There’s a difference between govt agencies and public organizations as compared to a private game company though. I wouldn’t want the former using discord either, but it’s honestly not a big deal and pretty understandable for the latter.
There are a few I’ve come across who have bug reporting vis Facebook.
It’s a terrible idea to limit how people can contact you, especially to something that requires an account, and now quite possibly requires the limitless fuckery of identity leeching like that Persona crap.
They don;t even have a bloody email, FFS.
Unfortunately, Discord is where the people are. The devs are making an effort to reach the most people.
No, they are making zero effort.
A blog is incredibly simple to setup. There’s no excuse for this other than laziness.
They’re just regular people.
Worked fine with linux in the last beta. Why disable it now?
There’s a theory that they are trying a different anti-cheat, but I really don’t know.
I miss the days of server-side anti-cheat.
I’ve returned a few games because of KLAC, if it pops up demanding I install spyware I’m out, which really only hurt for Star Citizen.
Pretty annoying if true. I preordered with the idea that I could refund if the beta didn’t work. It worked great so I was happy to wait for release but now it looks like I’ll have to refund after all.
Don’t preorder.
I was thinking the same thing. He did claim they are working on it, so I might wait for release before refunding. I bought it to have access to the beta though so I’ll still be pissed either way.
The game doesn’t release Sept 10th, it enters early access.
During early access the devs encourage people to refund if they don’t like it.
You just have to wait the same amount of time as you thought you would yesterday.
Calm the fuck down, and if you didn’t know any of that, you didn’t pre-order “with an idea” you did it with an assumption after not putting in any effort or you’d have known that.
Probably because they are not actively working to make sure it works properly. So it is better to set low expectations vs having people get upset if they hit problems.
Wardogs? More like conflict coyotes amiright?
Working hard to basically click a check box. Why not just enable it and slap a disclaimer on if worried about perception? So lame.
Almost like the check box is there for a reason and some things might not work properly or require extra testing if it’s enabled…
