    Based on https://github.com/xodus-gaming

Xodus is an open-source reverse-engineering effort to make Xbox PC games (including GamePass) run on Linux and Mac systems. We handle everything needed to get GDK-based Xbox titles running outside of Windows.

This project is not affiliated nor endorsed by Microsoft. Use at your own risk.

I welcome this. It is kind of similar to playing Xbox games through Steam, as it uses WINE and Proton in the background in addition to the open source reverse engineered authentication and so on. Not my preferred way, but for lot of XBOX or Windows users this could be the last wall of defense to overcome.

But unless Microsoft officially supports this or accepts this, I would be cautious for the time being.

Being able to game on Linux fairly easily is why I finally made the switch. I’ve hated Microsoft for years but it just wasn’t easy to run games for awhile without more technical knowledge than I had. Now it’s so so much easier.

I think if this works out, we will see more people make the switch. Maybe not a shit ton but, definitely more.

I’ve no interest in that service but I welcome support, anyway, because it’s a third party and will likely end up the best way to experience Game Pass subscriptions. I know Game Pass subscribers, and I’m sure they’re fiiiine with me evangelizing Linux s’more.

“Now with more telemetry and spyware!”. Nah, I’d rather play xcloud on my browser instead.

Just of note, this is worked on by the team at Heroic (a game launcher that’s like Lutris but specifically for game stores, like GOG), certainly not Microsoft. Why on earth would MS willingly reduce the dominance of Windows? They’re a for-profit megacorporation! It’s one of the reasons why Minecraft Bedrock isn’t natively supported by Linux. They can definitely do it, it runs on C++, they just choose not to and have Windows have the privilege of running Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft.

yep, my thought, and my reason for the no thanks.

I dont even play minecraft anymore due to their GDID bullshit with microsoft accounts, which they forced everyone to change their mojang accounts too.
