Now they are extrapolating estimated figures as annual when it hasn’t even been out a full month? What a terrible article. And jumping the gun when price of the Steam Machines could go up even more with component costs not locked in for years for Valve, but closer to months so more affected by changing part costs.
Yearly? Its been weeks…
This is how shit like this is always reported - its infuriating. Much like annualised revenue where they tell the stock market “we made 1 Billion last month, which means we’ll definitely make 12 Billion in a year”.
And this “flat” estimation without any nuance taken into account is based on a roughly estimate of current sales, with an guess of split between high (35%) end and low end (65%) model of sales. Also early adopters will buy it for any prices and then we need to see how many are still interested and how many VALVE can produce. There are so many factors that its impossible to project a yearly sale number…
And the title says “Hits”… as you say, this is just infuriating.

It sounds like they multiplied weekly sales by 52. I don’t think that is a valid approach here.
Though it does sound like current sales are at least good, despite the RAM crunch.
At the rate of ram prices the steam machine might come without ram later or the sale price would be mich higher.
