Here it’s apparently done just through a credit card. Does this meet the standards for the German law, I never really looked this stuff up. Dunno if that’s enough for the verification or if there are maybe some stipulations, especially with regard to the GDPR.

it seems not. Providing anonymous verification data like Credit card information or even just the id number of the personal identification card is not enough, the provider has to verify the actual identity of the person. I guess that’s quite a bigger hurdle to overcome, so probably fair for valve to not bother.
Huh? Why didn’t they do this for German users? German law requires age verification for adult content, and valve didn’t want to implement a system…

My only guess is that there wasn’t much outcry for Valve to do it for Germany compare the UK’s Online Safety Act
