You’re the first user that I’ve ever come across (so far) that assumes someone hasn’t checked ProtonDB when someone says “I’ve searched…” in the context of Linux Gaming… Much less on Lemmy.

Unsure if you knew about ProtonDB, I then tried to point you somewhere where I get answers (again, because you didn’t mention anything you tried or where you looked), and you took a snotty tone with me for trying to help you.

Issue

After the update from 1.1 to 1.2, the game would crash with Unreal Engine 5 errors after the initial shader cache loading.

    LowLevelFatalError -- Bad export index … WBP_Modern_CharacterCreation_EditableText_C

Happens after Bethesda’s update due to mismatched Unreal 5 caches and corrupted .pak files left behind by Steam in the shader caches and games compatdata directory.
Fix

    Uninstalled the game.
    Remove all leftover files
    Reinstall game

Poorly optmized game. Engine.ini tweaks and performance tweaking is required.

It’s your CPU. The FX line came out a very, very long time ago, the first real quad cores. You need an upgrade to play games that came out last year. (Edit, I thought you meant Cities Skylines 2. Still, if you’re hoping for good framerates you can’t have a CPU that is that old)

I have no idea where you are but not even a single battery is 25 cents where I live.

Even then, you’re still literally throwing away money when you get rid of it instead of buying a product you can reuse in any other future toy, remote, whatever. Throwing away money is the dumbest thing. You don’t make any sense, not financially, ecologically, my original comment I think still reigns true, it’s pure laziness.

Yeah I guess it’s “weird” to use rechargeable batteries which are only slightly more than regular batteries but can be used over and over and over again. Putting aside “anti consumption” that’s just plain the better deal

From the votes, I think you are the outlier.

I get people even here who just swear up and down it’s impooooooosible for them to switch for a littany of excuses. It costs too much (it doesn’t, it’s actually way cheaper), why would I put them in a remote? (Literally why wouldn’t you) They aren’t as convenient (compared to buying them at a store?). Or my favorite “they don’t work as well” ,which they don’t in maybe 5% of cases. So they could still replace 95% of their alkaline but let’s be real they just don’t want to even try.

They’re still there, and usually it’s pure laziness, or just arrogance that they don’t care about the immense waste.

I remember CE! Weirdest kiosk is I ever used. I just remember it came out around the same time as Halo, so I always thought it was Windows: Combat Evolved

Window’s kernel has been a monstrosity for decades now, but they’re so invested in it they can’t change. I’ve worked directly with guys who worked on the NT kernel and they all agree it’s absolute shit, but they can’t break away from it either. A handheld has to be one of the worst places for it to run

Hm, that’s definitely odd, I have a 7900XTX and Bazzite and have played it multiple times. Did you purchase it through Steam I assume? In my experience it’s always Social Club as you’re seeing. I wonder if there’s something that needs to be installed like via protontricks, but just guessing for now

Yeah my brain went immediately to “that’s why we have batocera”. I mean more is good, but also, it’s tight there and already very mature

Personally I chose Pop for the same reason, I don’t want to sit there tinkering for hours. They have a version with nvidia drivers already baked in, everything worked out of the box. Installed Steam from the popshop (which does flatpaks) and took off from there.

Just throwing in my weight here, Bazzite linux worked out of the box on my AMD hardware, and it’s tuned for gaming. I have it set up as a HTPC just like you and it works great.
