What they could do is, since you bought the machine/frame on the store, they could give a certain number of discounts on games purchased after purchasing the device (like giving away Half Life: Alyx with the purchase of the Index/controller). Buy a steam machine, get 5 X% discounts on any games in store, buy a steam frame same except exclusive to VR titles. Still on the fence for my own use, although old, my Vive is still a solid headset

Installing nvidia drivers in K/Ubuntu is trivial, click a check box during install and they are installed, don’t forget to disable snap. My gf had a gtx 1060 and I had both the 2070 super and 4070 ti super, no issues in x11, some minor issues in wayland that should be resolved now but we got full amd systems now

I just get curious when I see an app I didn’t know about that is similar to one I use. Other than access from the boot menu it sounds just like ts. I may check it out on one of my test laptops to see how different it is

How does snapper compare to timeshift? Ease of use. Been using ts since I got back into linux and have used it quite a few times already
The latest update broke my gfs Elder Scrolls Online game, which I got working, but I now need to fix her addons through minion and simply reinstalling the addons does not work. May restore an image and tell her to not update lutris yet unless there are ideas to fix it, also being able to login without alt-tabbing would be nice again
Timeshift FTW. Just rolled her back and told her to not update Lutris. She only plays ESO there so if it works, don’t mess with it.

Initially I was gonna sell it to someone that needed it, but when I got my new one I could see it was the last one I’d be able to afford unless something drastic happens in our favour. I am too old and cynical to think otherwise
I have a similar system I just retired(r7 3800x, 32gb, .5tb m.2+2tb m.2+4tb ssd, 4070ti super with a spare 2070 super), still works very well. Going to clean and put it back in its box til my new one becomes unusable, don’t think I’ll be buying another pc and I will NEVER use cloud gaming, no one should reward these ghouls for fucking us over especially Nvidia. Once all my old pcs stop working, if I am not dead yet, I will do like my childhood and read physical books and spend time out doors
JFC, what size? I paid about that for 64gb kit, and between my purchase and pickup 3 days later it went up like 150 - 200
Lutris is wonderful, they have many scripts to assist in game installs, for when you decide you are ready to take the plunge
I just retired my r7 3800 and I beat the hell out of that machine with vr and vr modded games. When I get home tonight I’ll edit this to say what board I have in there, it is rock solid and outside vr that machine is a beast

I’ve never gotten a Linux system running with the expectation that it will work 100%.
I only expect an OS to do what it was designed to do. I was so happy when steam went full crazy on proton, all of my flat library works like a dream, only 30 or so games, my VR library is over 100.
100% I do know of (and was well aware before my move) the limitations, I used linux in early 00. The way flat games are today I see VR being similar in 5 - 10 yrs (we are a small community overall and even smaller on linux). We WILL get there because the “real gurus” will take us there, I has faith and patience. Until then, M$ can harvest my streams and VR gameplay (I have stripped all apps, files, and flat games from my windows install and I only play for 2hrs at a time 5-7 times a week)
Then stop buying them or buy something different so steam thinks you like other content ;P
