Die meisten sind Aktienunternehmen also sind sie bereits sowas wie “Gemeineigentum”. Viele Pensionskassen werden ein paar Anteile haben und in vielen Fonds sind sie auch drin.

Ok, die Armen haben per Definition auch keine Pension oder ETFs. Was würde aber jetzt passieren, wenn der Staat den 1 Millionen Ärmsten in Deutschland jeweils eine BMW-Aktie schenkt? Das wären grob 88€ pro Person bzw 88 Mio insgesamt. Vermutlich würden diese Menschen, die Aktie aber sofort verkaufen, weil sie mit 88€ auf dem Konto mehr anfangen können. Auf den Aktienkurs hat das vermutlich keine relevanten Auswirkungen. Das wäre kein großer Effekt. Gemeineigentum ist nicht sehr nützlich, wenn man die Grundlagen kämpft.

800€ ist nicht hoch, aber es geht ja darum, dass er nur 4 Jahre dafür gearbeitet hat.

Die maximale Rente in Deutschland ist 3589€. Wenn man 45 Jahre arbeitet, heißt das man erarbeitet sich durchschnittlich 80€ pro Jahr bzw 319€ in vier Jahren. Wenn man sich also 800€ in vier Jahren erarbeitet, dann ist das schon hoch.

I agree because I don’t really see the point. If someone wants to publish a page with content as simple as text/gemini, it is possible with HTTP and HTML too and it is available to much larger audience. If someone wants a reduced client, then NoScript or some minimalistic browser (Dillo or others) prevents the tracking and popups as well.

Technically, the identity management in Gemini is somewhat interesting, but it is certainly not a killer feature.

Effectively, I believe it mostly appeals to a minimalism aesthetic similar to suckless or STEPS. I like that but I don’t see it changing the world.

I use Lutris for games from GOG on Linux and it works ok. Welcome to the club!

I looked into this again. I misremembered: iOS Mail does not “mark” deleted mails but is supposed to move deleted Mails on IMAP into a Trash folder (or Archive). That does not happen in my case and I have no clue why. The mail disappears in the app but is unchanged on the server.

I like having a native Desktop client and Thunderbird is a reasonably good one.

I do use both because I want to read my email on my phone and on my desktop.

If I delete a Mail on iOS, it is not deleted in Thunderbird though. The iOS client only marks it as deleted instead of actually removing the data and Thunderbird does not understand the mark.

I did not consider Tuta at the time. It either was not around yet or too new.

I compared Posteo and Mailbox. Since Mailbox gives me the option to use my own domain, I picked that one. (I don’t have my own domain 🤡)

Mailbox provides normal IMAP access. I use Thunderbird and the iOS Mail app as clients. (Annoying: iOS Mail does not delete mails in a way that is recognized by Thunderbird)

Gmail to Mailbox.org. Whenever I’m using it to login somewhere I get reminded that no US corporation can steal or shutdown my identity.

And “Mastodon” is not a good name. The term “Fediverse” is better but inevitably leads to confusion about decentralization.

I believe the Mastodon instance should strengthen their individual branding instead. Don’t advertise “Mastodon” but advertise “feddit.org” instead.
