I don’t think that’s true. For one thing it’s marketed as a living room/couch gaming “console”.

For another, it’s not a PC that comes with a dedicated keyboard and mouse type setup, but instead is clearly marketed as being used with a controller.

I wouldn’t say Valve assume that people will switch from consoles to this hardware, but I do think it’s being marketed in the same/similar niche.

I think they were planning to use their PSN account required BS to make up that difference by gathering and selling user data. But then that didn’t work because it turns out you can sell computer games in markets where PSN isn’t available so there was obvious backlash.

Yes, I’m sure we do, but while things like Battleye and Easy Anti-cheat, and so on do work on Linux to an extent, but they don’t really have access to the Linux kernel.

I don’t think that people are demonizing them for attempting to migrate to Linux.

I’m pretty sure (because of my own reaction to this news, as well as the other comments) that it’s to do with people’s dislike of kernel-level anti-cheat and EA’s attempt to bring that to Linux.

I’m still not gonna buy games with anti-cheat, EA.

I use twitch for one thing and it’s literally to help support a friend of mine. He streams as part of his job to make money. You can’t currently do that on other websites and get the same benefit.

I have never liked twitch but I have a pretty valid reason for using it. He wouldn’t reach the audience he does there anywhere else except YouTube who don’t pay much if anything for streaming and take a more significant cut of donations.

People won’t leave because the viable options aren’t giving the same benefits, and it’s not just about the viewers, but also the content creators.

This is not a win for gamers. That spin is wild.

I ran into this problem with a dual boot of windows 10 and bazzite where I wanted to recoup more drive space for Linux but couldn’t load gparted to allocate more space because windows kept trying to claim that space.

Even though this wasn’t the exact problem I was looking to solve it did work for me.

When you go to install Bazzite can you make a separate EFI partition manually for it? Because that’s the part that I think might help you.

If not, can you back up the windows install and reformat?

The point was that alienating their main player base this way will lead to the demise of companies that use kernel level anti-cheat and those companies will deserve it because they did it to themselves.
