devs aren’t smart people. talented, yes. smart, no.

I worked with many devs making $100-200k a year and could barely afford their apartments because they were so spread thin financially. spending $100+ a day eating 3 meals a day out. “investment” in crypto scams. girlfriends(yes plural). $4k a month rent for apartments that are way too extravagant for someone who spends 80% of their time at the office. driving nice cars with monthly leases in the $2-3k range. living on credit cards.

the only time I saw most of these guys get their shit together was when they got married.

it’s about using a platform that’s owned by a corporate entity that will do anything for more profit.

IBM is known for doing whatever they want, whenever they want.

I have zero sympathy for a project that leverages tooling from a vendor with the kind of reputation IBM has.

that said, someone better suited for the project will fork it and it will carry on, just might lose some momentum.

unfortunately yes. driver support for any redhat derived Linux is amazing compared to Debian or Arch.

I stopped using redhat anything after IBM fucked everything up, but it’s still true today.

Debian could be amazing if it weren’t for the devout “it’s not free, it’s not for me” evangelicals. I mean, I get it, but there is a cost they just don’t concern themselves with and the distro suffers because of it.
