I’ve been playing Stardew while I lay on the kids floor waiting for them to fall asleep.

Me and my partner spent a couple of nights to do like 10 minutes of every game, and we just thought so much of it was bad.
When we did the same thing again a year later, we were way more into it. I think it grows on you.

Final Fantasy vii, just bought it on gog. I think I first saw screenshots of it in a PC magazine almost 30 years ago.

Just random pico-8 games.

I love gog for being able to download and own the game. I have about 10x more games there than steam. It’s a bit more hassle integrating them with the steam deck than steam is though.

Bazzite is part of the Universal Blue project, which is basically three distros based on Fedora Silverblue.
Bazzite - gaming focus Aurora - KDE desktop Bluefin - Gnome desktop
Look up the universal blue site and you’ll see more about them.

Or have the physical media, but no optical drive

Yes. That’s what I am doing. I just told you I haven’t bought disposables in years.

That’s what I heard, but it’s a 2 hour trip for me to get to IKEA.

I have. But that isn’t what you said. You said parents aren’t using rechargeable batteries in their kids toys. And I am. I haven’t bought a disposable battery in years.
I think you’re an abrasive person. That’s all.

I was disappointed too. I have a handful of eneloops I use with my Steam Controllers, that last me a few months each charge.
For my partners Switch, we have 3 wireless controllers with rechargeable AAs as well. Meanwhile the Switch Pro Controller is dead as shit.
I get it, people want blocks of lithium around their house. But if you’re used to how good eneloops are this is a huge disappointment.

I absolutely am doing that. I don’t think it’s dumb.

This (Disks) is exactly what I’d suggest for a newbie too. Just noting it’s not gparted, it’s gnome-disk-utility.

The controllers I use:
Steam controller
Wired xbox controller (Hyperkin branded)
Wired switch controllers (pdp and hori branded)
I have some ps4 controllers that worked well but they don’t hold a charge now so they’re just e-waste.
Sticking with wired or rechargable AAs. Any wired switch and xbox controller I’ve plugged in has gone fine.
I can’t speak for the wireless switch controllers (we have 2 that run on rechargeable AAs), because I’ve never paired them onto a PC. But eneloops last about 6 months in my steam controller, I’ve just been recirculating the same 4 batteries in it since 2017.

Some of my favourite games ever were KKND, Dark Reign, AoE 1, Total Annihilation, C&C, Army Men.

That sucks. I’m only interested in single player.

It’s a big problem with this guy for sure, but also he’s usually pretty good at admitting when he’s wrong and calling himself out on it. I wonder if he’ll look into this again to get some clarity.

One of the things you can do is run Steam from the terminal. When the game crashes/fails to load; the terminal read out could be telling you what’s going wrong.
How well does the DoS games play with a gamepad?
